My Favorite Humans!
I had a chance to finally do some collaborative workshops with Mindy Tsonas Choi, instigator of the Be Seen Project. AND we got to host them at everyone’s favorite shop - gather here in Cambridge, MA. It was a magical day. We decided to do a craftivism mash-up. We talked about the rich history of craftivism and then Mindy led us in a zine making workshop followed by my stitching workshop.
Y’all I had no idea what I missing by not playing with zines! I went down the zine rabbit hole thanks the resources Mindy shared.
Here’s two great starting point for you if you want more info:

I walked away truly inspired and excited to make a craftivism zine to share some of my thinking and my approach to craftivism for folks who are interested. It is my gift to you as we wrap up this year!
Top 5 things I love about zines: 1) Rich history 2) Wildly accessible 3) Easily replicated and shared 4) Hand-made 5) No room for fluff or bullshit
Here’s the link to download the zine.
New to zines? Here’s the deal…
print the zine on an 8.5x11 piece of computer paper (as many copies as you like)
fold it using the method below to create an 8-page booklet
share them, gift them, distribute them
The folding is the tricky part so I’ve got a video for you as well as a photo tutorial.
Here’s the video:
Here’s the pics:
Step 1 - Print
Step 2 - Fold in half the long way
Step 3 - Fold in half end to end
Step 4 - Fold in half again
Step 5 - Open it up and reveal 8 boxes
Step 6 - Fold in half the short way (keeping the front cover in the lower right quadrant)
Step 7 - Cut along the top of the front cover
Step 8: Open it up again
Step 9: fold in half the long way
Step 10: Stand it upright and pop the pages along the cut lines and fold it into a booklet (video might help with step)
Step 11: Lay it flat, ensure the first page is visible and reinforce creases. You should now have an 8 page booklet!
I hope it brings you a little joy, inspiration, and insight.
