Hellooooooo!
I wanted to remind everyone within a 30 mile radius of Chicago that the BIG ASS CHICAGO BOOK LAUNCH PARTY AND FUNDRAISER (I really could not come up with a short and pithy title for this things) is SATURDAY NIGHT!
You can literally walk inside of my book.
Get your ticket here.
Pay-what-you-can.
JUST A FEW REASONS YOU SHOULD ATTEND:
See the work of over a dozen art activists from Chicago and across the country. They are bringing some really power art and there will be lots of ways for you to get involved. Plus you can make zines and participate in a huge collage. Many of the artists will be selling their work and it's accessibly priced.
Jen LaMastra - Liberty Crochet Mural
The event is pay-what-you-can with all donations going to the Chicago Freedom School.
Over 80 artists came together to make this amazing quilt (in the colors of the Chi Freedom school) to raffle off! Plus, the Chicago Botanic Garden has given us a prize pack to add to the bounty.
DJ La Queen Thelma Uranga will be spinning. Mary Morten is emceeing and Miss Alex Kay will be doing double duty. First, as our ASL interpreter and then as our drag performer!
There is FREE PARKING thanks to our sponsor The Fields Studios
There will be beer thanks to Revolution Brewing. (also wine and non-alcoholic drinks)
Women & Children First Bookstore will be on site selling my book and my suggested reading list! *I'll have a sharpie and I am happy to sign books
I'm debuting a massive new piece that I've been working on for two years
Rita's Quilt will be on display for anyone who has been dying to see it but hasn’t been able to yet.
If you are one of my patreon community members you will be rewarded handsomely thanks to our friends at Patreon.
Workshop 4200 is a serious creative hub in Chicago and some of the artists and creators will keep their studios open for you to check out. I hear that the baker is going to stay open and sell some sweet treats too!
That's not everything but that should be enough to get you there! Am I right? Support artists. Support activists. Support community.
HUGE THANK YOU
I just need to say thank you!!! Thank you to the amazing sponsors who made sure that Saturday’s event is fully funded. We raised enough money to cover all of the hard costs of the event AND pay every artist. That means that every penny of the door donations and the raffle will go directly to The Chicago Freedom School!
